Luxemburg's Feed FAQs

What does Non-GMO mean for chicken feed?
Non-GMO means the grains and ingredients used in the feed were not genetically modified. For flock keepers who want to avoid GMO crops — primarily corn and soy, which are almost universally GMO in conventional feed — Non-GMO feed provides a verified alternative. Luxemburg's sources Non-GMO grains and formulates every product in this collection to that standard.

Why would I choose no corn or no soy feed?
Some flock keepers choose corn-free or soy-free feed for a variety of reasons: concerns about GMO crops, allergies or sensitivities in their birds, a preference for more ancestrally appropriate diets, or simply wanting to know and control exactly what their chickens eat. Soy-free feed is also popular among keepers who sell eggs to customers with soy allergies, since soy proteins can transfer into eggs in small amounts.

Is Luxemburg's feed medicated?
No — all Luxemburg's Feed Service products are unmedicated. If you're raising chicks and want coccidiosis prevention through medicated feed, you'll want to look at Heim Milling's medicated starter instead. Luxemburg's is the right choice for keepers who prefer a non-medicated, clean-ingredient approach with strong biosecurity practices.

How is Luxemburg's different from the other feeds you carry?
Luxemburg's is our most ingredient-conscious line — every product is Non-GMO, and most are corn-free, soy-free, or both. Heim Milling and Famo Feeds offer excellent conventional and specialty feeds at a range of price points, but if clean, transparent sourcing is your top priority, Luxemburg's is the collection to shop. It's also the only line we carry with a No Corn No Soy option across starter, grower, and layer stages.

Can I feed Luxemburg's products to ducks and game birds too?
The starter and grower mashes work well for ducks and game birds as an unmedicated base feed — just be aware that waterfowl need additional niacin supplementation (brewer's yeast added to feed) that isn't included in poultry-formulated feeds. The scratch grains, cracked corn, and barley are suitable as supplemental treats for all poultry species.
